A synopsis of the book from the internet. Three Months in the Southern States: April-June 1863 is a firsthand account by British officer Lt. Fremantle of his travels through the Confederate States during the American Civil War. Based on his diary, it offers a British perspective on the Southern cause, detailing his encounters with figures like Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, and providing vivid descriptions of life in the Confederacy. The book is notable for its contemporary accounts of key events like the Battle of Gettysburg and is considered a classic of Civil War literature, particularly for its insights into the Confederacy at its "floodtide". The most collectible version of this book is not the First Edition, but maybe what is the Second Edition, the "Confederate Edition" published in 1864 by Mobile, AL: S. THIS COPY IS ACTUALLY THE FIRST EDITION, PUBLISHED IN THE UK BY William Blackwood and Sons, Edinburgh and London, in 1863. Overall it is in VERY GOOD CONDITION.

Clean blue cloth textured boards with clear gilt spine titles. The spine is darkened a bit from exposure, light corner and edge wear, lightly bumped corners.
