The original Official Records of the Civil War consists of 128 volumes which contain official reports, correspondence, courts-martial where they explain battles, and a smattering of troop itineraries scattered in with battle accounts. However, much material was left out of the original edition. Numerous reports were not sent in and Confederates were reluctant to contribute to a work compiled by Yankees entitled War of the Rebellion. Thus, the original Official Records were incomplete - however, this situation is being remedied.

It's an uncommon collection of the rest of the story. It's arranged like the Official Records - chronologically with entries by campaigns, etc. It includes reports, correspondence, records of events, the reports listed as "not located, " itineraries of units, the reports the Confederates didn't sent in, the reports the Union didn't send in, misplaced or sent in late... Less that 3% of this material has been previously published or transcribed. MINT CONDITION This two-volume book set is brand new, unread, and in pristine condition. It comes in the original, publisher's shrink wrap. The books set is handsomely bound in black covers, with bright, sharp, gold spine lettering.
