This exceptionally rare two-volume set, "The Rise and Fall of the Confederate Government, " by Jefferson Davis, represents a significant piece of American history. These are the original editions, published by D. This esteemed set was recently acquired by Dr. Its original owner was Dr. Tate's great-grandfather, Joseph L.

Orr served as a Second Lieutenant in Company A, Fourth Tennessee Cavalry during the Civil War. A notable figure in his time, he was a journalist and a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, later becoming an expert agronomist and school teacher after the war. The volumes are in very good condition overall.

There is some minor fading around the illustrations and photos, as depicted in the attached images.
