I have here for sale a superbly illustrated book entitled THE ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS Volume XLI covering July to December 1862. This issue has a lot of content on the US Civil War; the Lancashire Cotton Famine that came with it; the final cutting of the Suez Canal; the Exhbition of 1862; coal fields in New Zealand; the stations of the Metropolitan Line.
Bound in there are four double page colour illustrations, one entitled The Opening of the International Exhibition; one entitled Nave of the International Exhibition; one entitled The Majolica Fountain in the International Exhibition; and one entitled Princess Alice. At the rear there is a pocket and in the pocket there are.
1 a four page colour fold out entitled Christmas at Windsor Castle in the time of Henry VIII. 2 an eight page fold out entitled Supplement to the ILN - The International Exhibition.
These are very large, the largest measuring 82 cm by 112 cm - and both of them have small tears along a couple of folds. Pages iv, 708 - complete, nothing missing. Very good condition indeed, quarter bound in brown leather on marbled hardboards with wear. Five gilt lines on the spine and lettering in gilt. Both boards are firmly attached and no pages loose or missing.41 cm x 29 cm. We wrap and post the parcels on Monday and Tuesday - therefore if you pay before midday on Tuesday we will get it in the postal sacks on Tuesday night, and if it is after that time then it will go into the postal service on the following Monday.
