Up for your consideration is a very scarce first printing of the first volume of Shelby Foote's monumental and comprehensive "The Civil War: A Narrative" published by Random House in 1958. This is a considerably hard to find example of the publisher's signed limited issue, with an additional crepe page laid in before the title page, bearing Foote's signature. Very few signed first editions were issued by the publisher. This is a fair copy.

Although the pages are nice and clean, a front hinge crack before the crepe signature page was archivally repaired. It now presents beautifully, and the repair is almost imperceptible. The first few pages have a bit of wear to the edge.

There is a personal library plate pasted on the blank page preceding the half title. The bottom of the page block has some scratching and small indents and the colored top edge has a few small stains. This item is in the category "Books & Magazines\Antiquarian & Collectible".
