This two-volume set provides a fascinating insight into military campaigns in Virginia and Maryland during the American Civil War. Chesney and published by Smith, Elder & Co.

In 1863 and 1865, the books offer a detailed review of recent battles and strategy. The hardcover books are in English and have a total of 464 pages (230 in volume 1 and 234 in volume 2). The topics covered include military tactics, the political climate of the time, and the experiences of soldiers on the ground. Whether you are a history buff or a student of military strategy, this set is a valuable addition to any collection. "A rather precise early account by a professor at the British Staff College" - CWB I-25.

A unique set of books - usually only seen in the later (1865) edition. Both copies have the same maroon cloth embossed cloth covers. As seen in the photos.

London: Simth, Elder and Co. Volume The Second - Campaigns in Virginia, Maryland, Etc. London: Smith, Elder and Co. It is obvious that these are a set of books that were collected separately, and were house at the Commandery as a set.

My research shows that the original volume was printed in 1863, while the 2-colume set was printed in 1864-65. The title page states in smaller font (Continuing The History To The End Of The Third Year Of The War).
