A scarce Confederate memoir from this Baltimore, Maryland native and member of the 2nd Maryland, CSA who was struck by four bullets on Culp's Hill at the Battle of Gettysburg. McKim was born in Baltimore and grew up at Belvedere, the ancestral home of Revolutionary War hero John Eager Howard. He earned degrees from the University of Virginia and the Virginia Theological Seminary and began his ministry as a Confederate chaplain during the Civil War. The author re-wrote and embellished his diary to produce an authentic and valuable narrative on soldier life in the Army of Northern Virginia.
