Producer of A&E/The History Channel's. The Chicago firm of Kurz & Allison is well known for its production of commemorative prints of American historical scenes. Founded in 1880, the firm's avowed purpose was to design for large scale establishments of all kinds, and in originating and placing on the market artistic and fancy prints of the most elaborate workmanship. Elaborate they certainly were: the majority of their prints are bright and dramatic, with action throughout the image. Drawn in a broad, graphic style that developed from Kurz's background as a muralist, these prints have a striking appearance that makes them not only interesting historical images but also excellent decorative prints.

Louis Kurz first worked as a lithographer in Milwaukee, together with Henry Sifert. After the Civil War, he was one of the founders of the Chicago Lithographing Company. He worked there until the company was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire. He moved back to Chicago in 1878, where in 1880 he became a partner in the newly founded firm of Kurz and Allison.

Alexander Allison probably provided financial backing. There are 36 highly detailed, beautiful, brilliantly colorful prints of the Battles of the Civil War. It is extra large measuring 24-1/2 x 18-1/2 inches.

It is bound in blue and gray cloth with lettering is in gold and two embossed gold emblems on the front of the book. The book is covered in a glossy dust cover. This book is number 2413 out of a numbered edition of 7700. This HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE Kurz and Allison print book is a true work of military art. May have minor aging imperfections.
