Handwritten page from the author dedicating this copy to his companion in arms, Geo. Illustrated with many b/w photographs, reproductions, maps (one fold-out), and drawings. Several tanned and tattered newspaper pages dated 1911 laid in. Apparently this is a composite copy. The text is that of the 1905 revised, corrected, and augmented edition, but the tipped-in title page, which contains the date, is the from the 1892 edition.

Likewise, the cover cloth, which was added when the book was rebound, is that of the 1892 edition. A very detailed, exciting, and complete history of this Civil War unit, which enrolled 1,553 men and saw action in 39 engagements. The Roster includes, for each man, his name, rank, date of enrollment, with details of his service listed by Company and rank. Book was obtained from a Whitby descendant.

Hardback book in Good condition. Book is bright, clean, tightly bound, and the pages have no writing except author's lengthy inscription on back of frontispiece page; paper is tanned, especially near the edges. Frontispiece and title pages tipped-in, leaf xv-xvi of Contents is mended at edges.

Cover was very neatly rebound years ago and the original cloth from the 1892 edition, as shown by the decorations and lettering, is pasted to front, back, and spine; front has some water spots, sides have a little scuffing, and the corners show some wear; black cover decorations are crisp, gilt lettering is faded but legible. 6 ½ x 9 inches, 746 pages.
