Marcus Joseph Wright was born in Tennessee in 1831. He practiced law and entered the Confederate Army in May, 1861, as lieutenant-colonel of the 154 Senior Regiment of Tennessee Infantry; Promoted brigadier-general Dec.

He wrote many historical books and contributed extensively to various encyclopedias and magazines. Wright sought to remedy the distrust Southerners felt toward the Federal government and to persuade them to donate or loan their war-related documents for the project (he and other ex-Confederates were also appointed to insure impartiality for the Confederacy).

He died on December 22, 1922, and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Condition: This Book is in good condition. The cover, however, is worn, stained, ripped, and scuffed. Bumped cover corners, pages have turned yellow from age. Foxing to paper commensurate with age.
