


Written by Major General George B. McClellan, Commander-in-Chief of the U. Army, it was printed in 1862 to the field for use in the instruction and standardization of training for the use of the bayonet in battle. This is the 1862 wartime edition.
It also contains Lippincott's advertisements on the flyleafs about other military related manuals it had printed. The book contains 21 full-page illustrated plates associated with the use of the Bayonet in combat. THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION This original, 1862, war-dated, Manual of Bayonet Exercise is in excellent overall condition.
It come protected in a clear, Mylar dust jacket (see photo #4). The book is bound in brown, cloth covers with gold, spine lettering. The book has solid binding throughout. It has no looseness or lean and both hinges are fine.
The exterior of the book has no bumping. The book has lite rubbing and a touch of cloth loss to the spine tips only. The interior is clean and has no writing in it. The pages are in excellent condition and have a touch of smudging on some pages, but not bad. The book contains 21 full-page, illustrated planes on bayonet use in the back of the book; these plates are in excellent condition with only aging.
