Union Soldier Henry M Davidson wrote a detailed description of his capture, escape on the run, and recapture in the South during the Civil War entitled'Fourteen Months in Southern Prisons'. This book included descriptions of various prisons in Georgia and South Carolina, most notably Andersonville, with a comparison of the imprisonment of negroes and whites. This 1865 first edition includes a rare fold out map of a prison as well as tables and charts throughout to depict the deaths of the soldiers and prisoners.
