The original owner of this volume was probably John Patterson Taylor from Reedsville, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania.

Taylor was appointed Captain of Company C, 1st Pennsylvania Cavalry shortly after the Civil War broke out. He served as an officer at the Battles of the 1st Bull Run, Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg and as Regimental Commander at the Battles of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. After the Civil War he was brevetted Brigadier General of the Union Army Volunteers. Please use the photos to make your own judgment of the book's condition.
