RARE 1867 CIVIL WAR MEDICAL BOOK ON SURGERY & MEDICINE AMPUTATIONS GUN SHOTS. These books are in the most fragile condition of any antique books. The bindings are worn and torn. Most of the writing on the binding is missing.
The covers are detached on some. They have scuff marks and pen marks.
The pages are discolored and have what looks like spills on them. One book looks like the edges of the pages were cut off and there is a chunk missing out of them(please see the picture for the better detail of it). All pages do appear to be there, but do to the fragile nature of the books I did not flip through all the pages. There are only two that have very graphic and informative pictorials. The Diseases of Women book does not have any that I have seen.
I did not look at every page individually. There is writing on the inside covers of all the books. Some of it is in pencils and some is in marker. All books are from the 1850 to 1880. Due to the condition of these magnificent rare-ties, I ask that you please look at the pictures I have taken a little more closely just to get the most accurate description of their condition.
These books belong in a library. They command attention even in their condition they stand out with other books beside them. I believe these would be excellent gift for the restorer or collector of medical books.
