This volume of Gordon's 1903 REMINISCENCES OF THE CIVIL WAR is the personal copy of Confederate Captain Junius "June" Kimble, whose name and "Eastland Texas July 1906" are inscribed on the end paper. Tennessean Kimble is mentioned in Shelby Foote's description of the failed July 3rd attack on the Union line at Gettysburg, known as Pickett's charge, in THE CIVIL WAR: A NARRATIVE. Kimble surrendered at Appomattox in 1865 and died in Eastland, Texas in 1911. The book is in good only condition (see photos): though worn, the covers and binding are intact, and the interior is unmarked with the exception of Kimble's name and information. The value of the book is in its association.
